The Septic System Installations Coordinator reports directly to the Owner. The Installations Coordinator is responsible for effectively planning and executing all aspects of company operations with respect to septic system installation jobs and other repair jobs requiring excavation with a tractor (i.e. root removal services, drain line replacements, etc.). Experience in the septic (or plumbing) industry is highly desired but not required. With the right motivation, knowledge and skills will be developed during a 60-day training period with primary duties as Septic Technician (Assistant) and an emphasis on Septic System Installations/Excavation Repairs. Training/experience as a Septic Service Technician will form the foundation of knowledge, skills, and abilities that are needed to fill the roles and responsibilities of the Septic System Installation Coordinator position.
- Full-time position with consistent hours: 40-hrs per week; some overtime hours may be available/expected. Work days for the initial 60-day training period will be Friday through Tuesday, 8-hrs per day (7:00am - 4:00pm w/1-hr lunch). Notice: Weekends required. Once the employee can perform duties/responsibilities without a Trainer, work days may be adjusted. Earlier/later hours may be necessary to accommodate customer requirements. Rarely (but sometimes), we accept jobs on holidays.
- Compensation. Weekly pay is calculated as an hourly wage to be determined for each individual employee when hired. Expected pay range is $15-19 per hour (based on experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, etc.). Additionally, our employees' hard work and exceptional performance is rewarded through periodic bonuses (twice per year). All pay is distributed on Friday by direct deposit. The owner performs regular performance reviews (3 mos, 6 mos, 1 yr, and annually thereafter); advancement in compensation is available as an employee's industry/company experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities progresses.

NOTICE: Expect to get dirty in this job. Our Septic Service Technicians work in the immediate vicinity of septic systems every day – often handling components and tools which have been covered with waste material and/or wastewater.

-- Training, Experience, and Certifications --

- REQUIRED: OSWW Certifications (Installer, Maintainer, Hauler, etc.) – attend training within 6-months of employment, and keep certification(s) current (as required/directed).
- REQUIRED: Valid/Current Class E Driver’s License with good driving record (MVR)
- REQUIRED: Class D Driver’s License & Medical Certificate – attend training/licensing exams within 2-months of employment, and keep license/certification current.
- REQUIRED: Computer literacy; experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- REQUIRED: Excellent communication skills via multiple media: In-person, e-mail, phone, text, etc.
- Preferred: Septic Industry experience (Plumbing Industry experience acceptable)
- Preferred: Home Service sales/services (Customer Service skills)

- Gain understanding of various septic systems / treatment plants, components, and common failure indications
- Conduct “Daily Jobs Briefing” for planned Installation/Excavation jobs.
- Motivate, mentor, and coach employees to deliver their greatest productivity and quality.
- Direct on-site efforts during installations and repair services to ensure work is completed in accordance with state/parish regulations and company requirements.
- Coordinate with sub-contractors (e.g. plumber, electrician, etc.) and submit Utility Locate Requests as needed.
- Conduct septic system assessments, service calls, and minor maintenance/repairs, including: Locating the system, Accessing the system, Assessing impending or existing issues, Documenting system specifications, Replacing aerator/sump pumps, etc.
- Accomplish septic services, maintenance, and/or repairs.
- Operate pump truck equipment: Pumping septic systems only (no grease traps or portable toilets).
- Drive/Operate company service trucks, including pump truck (once licensed and qualified).
- Discharge waste (when truck is full) at approved Waste Water Treatment Facility.
- Manual labor includes: Probing the ground to identify the location of buried septic tanks/pipes/components; Digging (and back-filling) pits/trenches (with a shovel and other tools) to locate components and access the system (e.g. access cap/plug in the top of the tank; Lifting/prying access plugs from the tank lid; Loading/Unloading tools/supplies and connecting hoses from pump system to septic tank; Backwash/Waterjet and/or septic mixing (as required), etc.

- Assessments / Site Evaluations: Applying training and knowledge during on-site troubleshooting. Identifying septic system issues and documenting a list of job requirements and necessary supplies; Reporting system issues to Office Manager so an estimate can be created for customers.
- Customer Service: Delivering a professional and knowledgeable presentation to customers; Discussing septic system components/issues and potential causes and solutions w/customers; Calculating and communicating an estimate (or bid) for services to be rendered; Communicating payment options and terms.
- Technical Repairs/Services: Repairing septic system damage (including replacement of underground pipe). Replacing aerator motors, sump pumps, and other damaged or inoperative system components. Drain cleaning with cable machine and/or other tools.
- Job Preparation: Loading equipment and supplies onto the trucks each day to ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available for scheduled appointments.
- Vehicle Inspections & Records: Checking vehicle operation each day and reporting maintenance concerns; Accomplishing minor maintenance/repairs to keep truck/equipment operational; Maintaining cleanliness of company vehicles – interior and exterior (cleaning days scheduled periodically); Assist in maintaining vehicle maintenance records; Report repair needs to the Owner; Coordinate with Office Manager to schedule appointments for vehicle repairs, oil changes, brake inspections, etc.
- Scheduling & Dispatch: Coordinating frequently with office staff throughout the day for dispatch before and after jobs; Reporting all job site observations to the office staff; Contacting customers as directed/requested by the office staff and/or customer.
- Administrative Accounting: Writing invoices and receipts to customers; Collecting payments; Reporting dispatch/offload information to Treatment Facility personnel and Office Manager; Delivering payments to Office Manager; Completing permit paperwork for new installations and other jobs as needed; Delivering permit paperwork to state and parish offices as needed.
- Inventory Management: Establishing/maintaining organization of supplies, products, materials, and tools around the shop and on the service vehicles; Recording serial numbers of installed equipment and reporting data to the Office Manager; Conducting weekly audits; May include purchasing job supplies, exchanging motors/pumps at supplier's office, etc.
- General Admin: Assist in maintaining organization and cleanliness of office premises, equipment, furniture, etc. Ensure security, integrity, and confidentiality of business data, policies, procedures, vendors, customers, etc; Ensure adherence to policies and procedures; Evaluate existing policies and procedures (and job site practices); Design and implement procedural improvements (as needed).
